Opportunity:
One division of our organization launched an initiative to offer clients self-paced training. The goal was to provide an alternative to traditional or virtual classroom sessions by allowing clients to complete training on their own schedule.
Solution:
My team determined that a self-paced, interactive e-learning course would be the best option for easy access to the training. As an optional offering, it allowed learners to engage with the material on their own time and at their own pace.
Process:
My team began by meeting with the division to identify their training needs and define the learning objectives. We then collaborated with subject matter experts (SMEs) to review content, gather relevant resources, and begin drafting video scripts and interactive elements. All components were organized into a storyboard to establish the pacing and flow of the e-learning. After sending the draft to SMEs for review, we incorporated their feedback, finalized the storyboard, and began development in Articulate Storyline 360. Once the module was complete, we submitted it to SMEs and leadership for final review. After receiving approvals from legal, communications, and IT, we published the training on our website.
Outcome:
The reporting employer team promoted the training by including a link in their monthly newsletter to inform clients of its availability. After the course had been live for a few months, a survey was conducted to assess its effectiveness. The majority of respondents found the training engaging, relevant to their roles, and informative.
